Maria Yafna Sharapova was born on 19 April 1987 to her mother Yelena and father Yuri in the Niagan town of Russia.
At tender age of
four Sharapova’s interest in tennis was noticed by her father's
friend alexander kapilnikov, who handed her the first racket. She has
owned her unusual brilliant style of play, was also seen by Coach Yuri
Yadkin who taught Sharapova her first tennis lessons.
When Sharapova turned
six she began taking tennis classes at a tennis clinic upon seeing
her development they urged for her to attend IMG academy Florida for her
professional training despite not having sufficient funds, her father
borrowed money to see his little girl get the best tennis training to
compete in the major league upon her arrival to Florida.
Her father resorted to
menial labor to sponsor Sharapova’s tennis classes while waiting for
her to enroll the academy as she aged before she attended academy Sharapova

Sharapova showed great
promise on the competitive circuit she turned professional on her

Simona halep.

In March 2016, Sharapova
announced that she had failed a drug test at the Australian Open. In January
at a press conference, the tennis star said that she had tested
positive for milgronate with an active ingredient of meldonium, which she
had been taking for health issues since 2006. The drug was added to
the world anti-doping agency's prohibited list on January 1 2016.
On June 8 2016 an
independent tribunal appointed by the international tennis federation
since pending Sharapova from playing for two years because of the failed
drug test for it.
In October 2016, after Sharapova appealed, her two-year suspension the court of arbitration for
sport announced that her punishment would be reduced to 15 months allowing
her to return to international competition in April 2017.

and tiffany among other companies she was the world's highest-paid female
athlete for several years with Forbes estimating her career earnings
at 325 million dollars at the time of her retirement after March

player Sasha Vujicic in 2009 the two getting engaged the
following year during a post-match conference.

performance hindered by nagging physical problems.
On February 26, 2020,
the month after her first-round loss at the Australian open Sharapova announced
her retirement in a Vanity Fair essay.
